U.S.G.S. Quad-based (DLG) National Topological Culture File
The National Culture File is a product of the merging and processing of attributes from two databases originally created and distributed by the National Cartographic Information Center of the U. S. Geological Survey (U.S.G.S.). These data sets include transportation and hydrography from the Digital Line Graphs (DLGs) digitized from the 1:100,000 topographic quadrangles and the National Geographic Names Database, one of four that comprise the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS). The data have been reprocessed and reorganized, and the multitude of feature codes have been combined into distinct attributes, providing more flexibility in mapping select features. In addition, topology has been applied, allowing for water features to display as polygons.

Select Gulf Coast Culture Features
The Select Gulf Coast Culture Features were digitized by TOBIN from the
Ortho-photo Map Base in Texas and South Louisiana, and from the U.S.G.S.
7.5-minute topographic quadrangles in Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama and
Florida. The features are also fitted to the SuperBaseTM Digital
Land Survey Data. The Oklahoma file includes all transportation and hydrography
features published on the U.S.G.S. quads. The Florida file includes both
major roads and water features, while the Texas, South Louisiana, Mississippi
and Alabama files include only major water features. (Note: The Select
Gulf Coast Culture Features data are only available combined with Land
Survey and State/County Line Data.)
U.S.G.S. Quad-based (TXDOT) Texas Culture Data
Digitized from U.S.G.S. 7.5-minute topographic maps by the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), the Texas Culture Data has been reprocessed in order to make it available in a variety of formats. The file includes transportation, hydrography and county and corporate boundaries. Also offered on a selected basis is the Texas Culture File further enhanced by creating closed water feature polygons and consolidated line segments. Services can also be provided to update this product by using the recent TOBIN Ortho-photo Map Base.
