TOBIN has the most complete, private, historical aerial photography library for the Gulf Coast region - over 1.5 million images -
Historical photography convey:
TOBIN began flying aerial photography for the oil and gas industry in 1928, prior to any governmental agency and generally has the earliest photographs of the Gulf Coast available. TOBIN has accumulated over 2 million aerial photographs and we acquire many more each year. Today the historical aerial photography is commonly used for locating old drilling sites, change detection, land use studies, environmental assessments and archeological site analysis. These photos became the foundation for the photo mosaic-based TOBIN maps, and coverage is available for the same areas.
During the late 1970's, technological advancements in the science of photogrammetry made it possible to generate more accurate maps by creating orthophotos. In 1980 TOBIN began to remap the state of Texas, south Louisiana and southwestern New Mexico using orthophotography, visually verifying survey and well locations with greater accuracy. Using U.S.G.S. survey control, the
orthophotography is accurate to within +/- 40 feet.
TOBIN's photo lab can reproduce contact prints and film diapositives, photo enlargements and custom mosaics. Scanned images are also available produced from the original aerial film at scan resolution from 150 DPI to over 3000 DPI.
