Understanding two important features of GIS applications such as TVDI will make your work much easier. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Because TVDI contains so much information, particular data sets are only viewable at certain scales. Without this feature, all the symbology would overlap making the map impossible to read. The chart further down this page shows the scale levels at which each vendor's data can be viewed. You can tell a data set is available to view when its checkbox appears. Use the Zoom functions to change the scale level.
When working in TVDI, you are connected to an Internet mapping service that links many types of data to features on the map. Each time you select a map feature or data set in the data layer tree you must click the Refresh button to update the links in what you are viewing. |

This list provides the best level in which a user can view a particular vendor's entire data set represented as a data layer.
If a data layer is listed at the county level or less, it can not be seen in the higher levels. However, a layer listed in the World or United States Levels can be seen in lower levels as well.
Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher and Java Runtime Environment 1.3.1_02.
The Java Runtime Environment (JRE™), including the Java Plug-in component for running Java applets in your web browser is required to use the Demonstration.
You can ‘Click Here’ to see if you currently have the JRE installed and if so, the version information as well.
